что это "стихия", знаю из итальянского,
там в этом смысле это слово чаще употребляется).

что на постоянной основе лежит в темных чуланчиках
и вытаскивается на свет лишь подобных дискуссиях)
стихия здесь тоже не настолько хорошо подходит. дело в том, что элемент в том числе и составляющая. о стихии этого сказать нельзя. а т.к. в фильме искали пятую составляющую, я скорее поддержу переводчика в варианте "5 элемент" мне кажется это больше отражает суть фильма
